I’m raising funds for a very special family and I would greatly appreciate your help to attain my goal for them.
Now, this isn't some big well known charity by any means. Its for my small-town family. Back home, I have a wonderful single mother and 5 genius younger siblings ranging in ages 3-16. After a long overdue divorce, my mother has doe her best to bring up my siblings in a good Christian home with a roof over their heads and food in their bellies. Sadly, our father and his family tend to cause a lot of trouble in their town of 800 people. However, my mother, through thick and thin, has managed to come this far with the help of her church and friends. Now a former victim of domestic violence, my mother has sought to come out stronger. Sadly, she is receiving no child-support from my father, is unable to obtain a substantial job (especially while raising 5 kids), and the government has cut down her welfare in large numbers since I moved out on my own 5 months ago.
A recent conversation with my mother, as she leaned her head on the table next to the plate of breakfast and chai tea I made her for breakfast, was that of loss of hope. She has begun to believe she will never be able to leave Wallowa, move on, move out, and stand up on her own two feet without the continuous gobs of drama and abuse my father and his family reflect on her almost daily.
She and the five kids live in a 1,000 sq. ft. 1968 trailer (including the uninsulated add-ons.) There are many roof leaks, peeling up floor tiles, holes in the walls and floors, broken facets, mis-matched broken furniture, etc. She is about $1,000 behind in backed-up taxes and her church no longer has the funds to help support her.
This month, she is unable to pay her regular bills and is looking at having utilities shut off.
The goal here is to raise $10,000 to help her and the 5 kids in just 9 months!
